Hard to Stay Focussed on a Goal that Requires the Unknown

Curt Rosengren, The Occupational Adventure (sm), writes about Develop a 5 to 1 habit

”...an endless litany of reasons why I can’t. It seems to be wired into us to look for obstacles and declare them reality.”

“One of the ways to change that perspective is to develop a 5 to 1 habit. For every obstacle you recognize, commit to writing down five ideas for getting around that obstacle.”

I tend to not put myself in places where I might meet a soulmate, because most of the time I see too many obstacles. I guess a prerequisite for the goal of find my soulmate is to be more deligent in getting around my obstacles.

I need to Disarm My Inner Critic

Curt Rosengren, The Occupational Adventure (sm), writes about Disarm your inner critic

“It’s so easy for the voice of our inner critic to define our reality, and the world it creates is harsh, unforgiving, and precarious.”

He includes several questions to ask oneself (which I think will make great journal topics). I can relate to the one about thinking in black and white. So often I can’t see the middle.

Wanting to Be Liked

John Maeda at S I M P L I C I T Y writes about real verses fake. Maeda writes:

“We all want to be liked in one form or the other. The same can be said about the unfamiliar space of the abstract.

I’m not understanding what he meant in your second sentence. We all want to be abstract? We all want to not pretend to be anything?
